Winchester ON – Creative Note Music Studio has officially opened its newly rebranded studio, bringing a new, creative approach to music education to the Winchester and the surrounding area. With a focus on accessibility, confidence‑building, and meaningful musical exploration, the studio offers a learning environment where students of all ages can feel supported, inspired, and excited about music.
The business is owned and operated by Erin Hopkins, an Ontario Certified Teacher with a Bachelor of Music and a Bachelor of Education. She studied piano at Mount Allison University before earning her teaching degree from Queen’s University. After several years working as a full‑time classroom teacher, she transitioned into building her own music education business, driven by a passion for making high‑quality music instruction available within rural communities.
Originally launched in 2021 under Mill Street Music Academy, the studio was rebranded in 2024 to better reflect her philosophy. “Music isn’t just about reading notes on a page, it’s about creativity, expression, and connection,” says Erin Hopkins. “The new name really captures that idea.”
Creative Note Music Studio offers a range of lesson formats, including private piano lessons, paired lessons for students at similar levels, and small group classes. Beyond piano instruction, the studio also provides music enrichment programs for preschools, early years programs, homeschool co‑ops, and schools.
What sets the studio apart is its student‑centered approach. Lessons extend far beyond traditional weekly instruction. Students learn to read and play music, but they also compose, improvise, explore lead sheets, and participate in workshops and performance opportunities. A strong foundation in theory, history, and technique is worked into every program, while still leaving room for student choice.
Equally important is the individualized attention each student receives. “I take time to understand how each student learns best,” says Erin. “My goal is for every student to feel encouraged, capable, and connected to the music they’re creating.”
