Cornwall, ON – The Cornwall SDG Business Advisory Centre is excited to announce the return of the Business Essentials for Newcomers to Canada, a virtual workshop designed specifically for newcomers to Canada who are interested in entrepreneurship. The session will take place on Wednesday, November 18th from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM.

This interactive webinar will provide valuable insights into starting a business in Canada, with a focus on the unique challenges and opportunities faced by newcomers. Topics will include:

  • Rules and Restrictions for Business Ownership: Understand what’s allowed for individuals on open work permits, closed work permits, student visas, and other immigration statuses.
  • Entrepreneurship as a Pathway to Permanent Residency: Explore whether starting a business can support your immigration goals.
  • Support for Francophone Newcomers: Cornwall is proud to be part of Canada’s francophone newcomer hubs. Learn about French-language resources and pathways to permanent residency through entrepreneurship.
  • Moving Between Provinces: Get clarity on work authorizations when relocating from Quebec to Ontario and other provinces.
  • Where to Find Ongoing Support: Discover local and regional resources to help you navigate your entrepreneurial journey.
