Cornwall, ON – Prepare your taste buds for something truly special! Ben and Audrey’s Poffertjes, a new business named after co-owners and husband-and-wife team Ben and Audrey Luimes, officially launched this June, offering a unique culinary experience at local markets. Their specialty? Delicious mini-Dutch pancakes, served with a variety of tempting toppings and a special topping of the week.

What truly sets Ben and Audrey’s Poffertjes apart from anything else you’ll find locally is the authentic recipe and their commitment to local sourcing. “Our mini-Dutch pancakes are unique as the recipe stems from a long-time family friend Maria Biemond, who mentored Ben in her delicious-from-the-heart recipe” shares Audrey Luimes. But the dedication to quality doesn’t stop with the recipe. To achieve the rich, creamy flavor signature to Maria’s original, Ben and Audrey use only fresh cream top milk from Upper Canada Creamery. This vital ingredient comes directly from the farm founded by Maria and Pieter Biemond, now owned by their son and his wife, Josh and Ellen Biemond.

Ben and Audrey are no strangers to the kitchen, or to giving back. They’ve both started cooking poffertjes for a local donation-based breakfast at the DC Community Center, which aims to feed those in need across SD&G and support local food banks and families in time of crisis. “Our hope is as we build this business, we can continue to lift up our communities with tasty treats,” says Audrey.

Currently a family-run operation, Ben and Audrey are often joined by their youngest son, Brody, at the Cornwall Kinsmen Farmer’s Market, with their youngest daughter, Grace, managing their social media. The couple recently received a “game-changer” gift from a friend: a tent trailer. With this gift, they are hoping to expand their business and participate in larger food truck events, bringing their delightful poffertjes to even more people.

Even though they don’t have a permanent location, you can experience the unique taste of Ben and Audrey’s Poffertjes at the Long Sault Farmer’s Market (Long Sault Plaza) on Fridays from 2 PM to 5 PM and the Cornwall Kinsmen Farmer’s Market (2 St. Lawrence Drive) on Sundays from 10 AM to 2 PM. They are also available for special events and can be contacted for bookings through their social media, by phone at 613-556-0186, or by email at benandaudreys@outlook.com.
