Cornwall, ON – There’s a fresh face at the helm of Flowers Cornwall! Melanie Dixon, along with her partner Nicholas, has recently taken ownership of the local flower shop.
Melanie’s journey with Flowers Cornwall started nearly 11 years ago when she was first hired as a student employee. By the time she graduated high school, she already knew that one day she wanted to own the place. With a floral design course under her belt, plus studies in Accounting and Business Administration at St. Lawrence College, Melanie steadily worked her way up – eventually teaming up with Rob, the previous owner, to plan for a seamless eventual transition.
This transition came a bit sooner than expected! When Rob launched his new venture, Tight Lines Tackle, the demand of running two businesses became a bit too much. So, on April 1st, Melanie and Nicholas officially took over Flowers Cornwall, while Rob shifted his focus to his new store. The couple announced the exciting new on social media, sharing: “We just want to thank everyone who has supported us since we took over on April 1st, everyone who has shopped at the store, sent us congratulatory messages, or shared our posts on social media, we are so grateful to have the support of this amazing community.”
Flowers Cornwall, located at 1325 Pitt Street, offers a wide variety of freshly cut flowers that arrive daily from around the world. Melanie and Nicholas also create custom floral gifts for every occasion: birthdays, babies, anniversaries, funerals, and everything in between. They also specialize in all things weddings and offer free consultations to all their couples. Their store is also stocked with delightful extras like Belgian chocolates, unique giftware, and wedding essentials – and yes, they are currently hiring!
One fun new twist? “Happy Hour” specials every Friday from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, where customers can snag deals on selected flowers or in-store goodies. These offers are posted weekly on their social media pages.
For Melanie, the vision is clear: “Everything from newborn babies, to creating the perfect memorial piece for a loved one, and every birthday, anniversary and wedding in-between! We want Flowers Cornwall to be your first thought to create floral expressions for it all.”
Melanie and Nicholas are committed to carrying on the legacy of Flowers Cornwall, with the same warmth, care, and customer service the community has cherished for over 30 years – while also adding their personal touch.
