Cornwall, ON — A new fitness option designed exclusively for women has officially opened its doors in Cornwall, offering a fast, high-intensity workout tailored to busy lifestyles. 30 Minute HIT, located at 722 Pitt Street (Unit 101), celebrated its grand opening on May 9, marking the franchise’s arrival in the city.

The Cornwall studio is part of the well-established 30 Minute HIT franchise, which originated in British Columbia more than 20 years ago. Known for its efficient and empowering approach to fitness, the concept focuses on a 30-minute boxing and kickboxing circuit designed specifically for women.

Co-owned by Alex Kwan and Eileen Wilson—a former champion bodybuilder from Montreal—the new facility aims to fill a gap in the local fitness market. “There isn’t a fitness center dedicated exclusively for women in Cornwall, and that’s something we wanted to change,” says Eileen.

What sets 30 Minute Hit apart from traditional gyms is its specialized format. The studio offers a full-body workout incorporating boxing, kickboxing, core conditioning, and self-defense techniques, all completed in just half an hour. Trainers are always available on-site to provide guidance and one-on-one support. The studio operates on a flexible schedule, with morning hours on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon, and afternoon and evening hours Monday through Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Beyond fitness, the studio emphasizes community-building among its members, promoting what it calls a supportive “communHITy.” The workout is designed not only to improve strength and endurance but also to boost energy levels, relieve stress, and build confidence.

The business currently employs five staff members, and the owners advised they worked closely with the franchise’s head office to bring the concept to Cornwall, receiving guidance throughout the setup process. Convenience played a key role in selecting the Pitt Street location. The centrally-located space offers easy access and ample parking, making it ideal for members fitting workouts into busy days.

The grand opening event featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony organized in partnership with the Cornwall and Area Chamber of Commerce. Local dignitaries, including Mayor Justin Towndale and MP Eric Duncan were present to help welcome the new business to the community. While no additional special events have been announced yet, the owners say they hope to host community-focused activities in the near future.
