Cornwall, ON – A new and enthusiastic cohort of entrepreneurs attended Cornwall SDG Business Enterprise Centre’s Starter Company PLUS Spring 2026 Orientation launch event this week. The continued interest in this program is representative of the robust entrepreneurial spirit across the Cornwall, SD&G and Akwesasne region.

“It’s wonderful to see such strong participation once again,” said Mireille Lemire, Business Advisor with the Cornwall SDG Business Enterprise Centre. “It shows that people in our area are eager to learn, connect, and take the next step in their entrepreneurial journey. Our team is proud to help foster that growth.”

About The Program

The Starter Company Plus program, delivered by the Cornwall SDG Business Enterprise Centre and funded by the Government of Ontario, offers aspiring and existing business owners the chance to:

  • Receive hands-on business training and professional development
  • Access one-on-one mentorship from experienced local business leaders
  • Develop a robust business plan and financial forecast
  • Compete for a micro-grant of up to $5,000 to help launch or grow their business

Since its inception, Starter Company PLUS has helped hundreds of local entrepreneurs turn their ideas into successful businesses, strengthening the region’s economy and creating new opportunities. A list of past Starter Company PLUS grant recipients is available online, showcasing the diverse range of businesses that have benefited from the program.

With such a strong start to this year’s program, anticipation is already building for the next cohort in Spring 2026. Applications are scheduled to open at the of January 2026. Interested entrepreneurs are encouraged to stay connected with CBEC for updates.
