Cornwall, ON – The Cornwall SDG Business Enterprise Centre is thrilled to announce the highly anticipated second annual Youth Entrepreneurship in Action Event, set to take place at Aultsville Theatre on April 4, 2024. Last year’s event saw over 400 students from across the region come together for a day of inspiration and guidance to kickstart their entrepreneurial journeys. This year’s event will also serve as the official launch of our region’s Summer Company Program.

“We are pleased to support the second annual Youth Entrepreneurship Event in Cornwall and SDG. This morning will provide an incredible opportunity for our students to learn more about entrepreneurship and owning their own business in the future,” said Tracy O’Brien, Superintendent of Education, CDSBEO.

Among the exciting lineup of speakers, attendees can look forward to hearing from MPP Nolan Quinn talk about his own entrepreneurial journey as owner of Dairy Queen Cornwall. As well as a captivating keynote address from local business owner Shannon Ferguson, the Founder and CEO of FanSaves. Known for revolutionizing the way sports fans save money through her successful tech startup, Shannon’s entrepreneurial journey has served as inspiration for many. Her expertise in the field will undoubtedly provide invaluable insights to the aspiring young minds in attendance.

“At St. Lawrence College, we believe in fostering entrepreneurship and providing our students with the tools and resources they need to succeed in the business world. This event will inspire and equip students with additional knowledge to thrive in their future entrepreneurial endeavors,” said Jennifer Haley, Dean, Interdisciplinary Studies and Pathways and Cornwall Campus.

The event welcomes all youth from post-secondary institutions and surrounding high schools, aiming to create an inclusive platform where young individuals can connect, learn, and develop ideas that they can later apply to the Summer Company Program.

The Cornwall SDG Business Enterprise Centre takes great pride in hosting this event, in partnership with the CDSBEO, St. Lawrence College, and the Eastern Ontario Training Board. The youth event will also mark the launch of the Summer Company Program, funded through the province of Ontario. This unique program offers mentorship, training, and funding for young entrepreneurs to start and run their own business during the summer months.

“The Summer Company Program is an excellent initiative that empowers young entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into successful businesses. I am proud to support this program and the Youth Entrepreneurship Event, which will serve as a catalyst for innovation and economic growth in our region. I encourage all young individuals to take advantage of this opportunity and discover their entrepreneurial potential,” said Nolan Quinn, MPP Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry.
