Cornwall, Ontario – Bianka Emmell is putting her mark on Downtown Cornwall with the opening of her new tattoo shop, Black River Ink.

Located at 108 Pitt Street, the shop’s warm and inviting atmosphere provides the perfect backdrop for those seeking a new piece of body art from Emmell, a passionate and well-versed tattoo artist who has quickly developed a loyal following.

“It’s been phenomenal. I’m so grateful for the following already – it’s exceeded the expectations I had before I opened,” she said.

After apprenticing in Kingston, Emmell returned to her hometown. With no openings available at other tattoo shops, she decided to open her own shop and it didn’t take long for her to find the perfect fit.

“This was the first place I saw and I knew this was it,” she said of her new space, which many would recognize as the former Life’s Little Pleasures (which is now located at 54 Pitt Street). “I loved coming in here (when it was Life’s Little Pleasures). It was my happy place. It just had the right mojo to start out.”

Emmell is well versed in most styles and her passion for creating shines through in each piece she does.

“I enjoy neo-traditional and black work and I’d also like to get more into realism,” she said. “There’s a lot of passion in tattooing. I want to make people feel comfortable with their goals of putting something meaningful on their body. Everybody has a story and I want to help share that.”

In addition to tattoos, Black River Ink also carries some select handmade products like macramé pieces – made by Emmell – and artisan items from BohoGrim.

Black River Ink is open by appointment and those looking to request a tattoo can send an email to blackriverink.tattoo@gmail.com.
