Cornwall Ontario – The smell of fresh bread is in the air as Alexandria welcomes an authentic organic sourdough bakery and café to Main Street.

After closing his home-based bakery in December 2021, Tom Manley, owner of Tom’s Pantry, decided it was time to open up the bakery again, but this time in a retail location in North Glengarry. After searching the region for a number on months he found the perfect location along Main Street in Alexandria, the former Quirky Carrot.

Tom’s Pantry offers a full-service bakery, dessert, delicacies, prepared food and coffee. Customers can enjoy both freshly baked goods and refreshments inside the café, on the patio or take out.

To ensure customer satisfaction and avoid disappointment, the bakery accepts advance orders online. Manley has developed his business based on years of experience and has opened his doors to many community partners that share shelf space in the bakery.

“Tom’s Pantry launched softly in mid August on a part time basis in order to get organized, train staff, stock the shelves, and develop the menu. By the end of September, business is much brisker than initially expected. The staff and I are extremely appreciative of the warm welcome from neighbours and visitors,” says Mr. Manley.

Mr. Manley has been involved in the local food in Eastern Ontario for the past 25 years and looks forward to sharing his passion for baking and local food with everyone.
