Cornwall, ON – A new mobile food experience is set to fire up the local culinary scene as Steelsmith’s Smokehouse officially opens its doors next week in Cornwall.
After months of preparation, building, and inspections, owner and pitmaster Ian Kent is ready to welcome the community to his mobile food trailer, specializing in authentic, slow-smoked barbecue. The grand opening will take place on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with the trailer located at 201 Ninth Street East (Canadian Tire Cornwall parking lot).
Steelsmith’s Smokehouse brings a unique offering to the region – high-quality barbecue crafted using traditional methods. The trailer features a focused menu of smoked meats and complementary sides, prepared using charcoal and hardwood to achieve rich, authentic flavors. Signature house-made sauces and rubs, developed and perfected over time, are a key part of the experience and help set the business apart.
“True barbecue is about bringing people together,” says Ian Kent, who built the trailer and its smokers himself. With years of competitive barbecue experience and multiple awards, Kent is now bringing his passion and award-winning recipes directly to the Cornwall community.
Steelsmith’s Smokehouse began as a passion project, with sauces and rubs originally created for friends, family, and barbecue competitions. Following strong community interest and success on the competition circuit, the business has grown into a full-time mobile operation focused on delivering memorable food experiences to local residents.
