Cornwall, ON – In the heart of Alexandria, ON at 1 Main St S, a new chapter has begun – Genesis Kitchen, a charming dine-in eatery that’s quickly becoming a local favorite. Genesis isn’t just the name of their business, it’s a testament to fresh starts, representing owners Amy and Dan’s bold pivot in life and their shared vision to create a space rooted in purpose and community.
Amy’s roots run deep in service. Having worked with the Full Bellies foodshare initiative during the COVID pandemic, she supported communities across Hawkesbury, Rockland, VKH, Alexandria, and Cornwall. Dan, meanwhile, spent over a decade traveling the world as a digital marketing consultant. With their eight children growing older, Amy was ready to take on a new adventure, and with Dan seeking more time close to home, the timing felt right. Genesis Kitchen became the natural next step – an opportunity to channel their experience and values into a community-focused space built on purpose and connection.
Genesis Kitchen officially opened its doors on May 4, 2025 with a soft launch, fine-tuning the menu and the customer experience before celebrating its grand opening on June 5–6, 2025. Local press, community members, and the Mayor of Alexandria all joined to welcome this exciting new venture.
Genesis Kitchen serves all-day breakfast, customizable epic sandwiches, rich espresso drinks, and freshly baked goods – but what truly sets them apart is the personality baked into every bite. From their bold “Bad Ass Grilled Cheese” to the Peanut Butter Banana Bacon Milkshake known as The King, every menu item reflects the unique and confident spirit of its owners. Even the music, décor, and vibe are unmistakably their own – authentic, inviting, and full of heart.
Rooted in family and community, the café is staffed by three of the owners’ daughters, two excited local youth and CO-OP students from GDHS.
More than a café, Genesis Kitchen is growing into a community hub. They have opened the space to weekly Bible studies, Men’s Groups, and hosts gatherings for YFC North Glengarry and the local Boys and Girls Club. They’re also keeping the tradition alive by continuing the monthly cooking classes first introduced by the previous owner – Tom’s Pantry.
The couple is extremely grateful for the tremendous support received from local restaurateurs, including the former owners of the space, ACC Futures in Cornwall, and community members who dedicated time and energy during the transformation of the space.
Genesis Kitchen is open Monday to Saturday, 7am to 4pm. For more information, you can contact them at 613-558-9532 or at dan@genesiskitchen.ca.
