Cornwall ON – Gear Guard Sanitization is gearing up to bring a much-needed service to Cornwall and SD&G, offering commercial-grade ozone sanitization for sports, fitness, and tactical equipment. As the first business of its kind in the region, Gear Guard is stepping in to support the health, wellness, and comfort of local athletes, families, and teams who have long struggled with equipment that can’t be traditionally washed or fully deodorized.

The business is owned and operated by Samantha and Kevin Hansen, who also run Vision Landscaping & Design. Their connection to the local sports community runs deep. During the off-season, Kevin volunteers to coach minor hockey for the Char-lan Rebels, and both owners are active parents in the community’s sports scene. Their son, Keith, plays minor hockey with the Char-lan Rebels, while their daughter, Hailey, figure skates with the Char-lan Skating Club.

“After years of hearing parents, athletes, and coaches talk about smelly gear and the lack of safe cleaning options, we knew there had to be a better solution,” the owners shared. “We wanted to bring a service to our area that not only improves comfort but also supports the overall health and wellness of our athletes.”

Gear Guard Sanitization officially opens in March 2026 and will operate as a home‑based business located at 6696 Elm Street, Cornwall, ON K6H 7J3. This setup allows the owners to balance family life while offering flexible, accessible service to clients throughout the region.

The company uses the same high‑grade ozone sanitization technology trusted by the NHL and even many Canadian and U.S. Military divisions, ensuring a deep, effective clean that eliminates odor‑causing bacteria without damaging equipment. While the investment was significant, the owners felt strongly about bringing top‑tier sanitization to their community.

With no local competitors offering anything similar, Gear Guard is excited to introduce this service to Cornwall and SD&G. They will also be appearing at the Spring Home & Leisure Show next month at the Benson Centre and hope to attend several upcoming tournaments to demonstrate the process and answer questions.
