January 13, 2021
By Bob Peters
Cornwall Ontario – The Cornwall and Area Chamber of Commerce is administering a non-repayable funding program to local tourism-based businesses that have been negatively affected by COVID-19. This program is now open for applications.
The program’s objective is to provide financial support directly to tourism-based businesses in Akwesasne, the City of Cornwall and The United Counties Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry. The grant will provide non-repayable funding in the amount of 80% of eligible costs (with a 20% contribution from businesses), generally to a maximum of $4,500.
Applicants must be small to medium-sized businesses or not-for-profits that provide goods and services to tourists and have incurred costs due to the pandemic to be eligible for the grant. Examples of expenses can include implementing health and safety protocols, alterations to accommodate social distancing, the purchase of PPE and cleaning supplies, or the implementation of digital tools and transformations for tourism operators.
