Learning From Family Leads To New Business

Cornwall Ontario – Opening and growing a business is no easy task. In the case of DJ’s Asphalt Roofing, working together and learning from family are key to being successful.
Jessica Pichie and Dean Derouchie are doing just that by recently opening DJ’s Asphalt Roofing, right here in Cornwall where they both grew up. Their specialty is roofing, however they do have several general maintenance tasks that they are also trained in such as stump grinding, tree removal, snow removal, painting, gutter cleaning, vinyl siding and other general maintenance.
“We both had other plans in mind when considering and deciding on career options”, said Jessica. “But we have now put both of our hard working hands together and have conquered the hardest part by getting started.”
Learning from family is certainly where their spirit and experience comes from. One side of the family has been roofing for 30 years while the other side specialized as a contractor for 25 years. Great experience to learn from and to draw on as they move forward.
“I’ve been roofing now for 7 years,” said Dean. “Our parents have instilled in us a hard work ethic, and provided us with the training needed for us to gain confidence in our work.”
Both Dean and Jessica agree that they are, and will continue to be very customer oriented. Their goal is to ensure that the job is never done until the customer is satisfied. They take on all sizes of jobs, including the small ones, whether for cosmetic purposes or for urgent repairs. They continually strive to provide quality work for a reasonable price.
“At the end of the day, a big thank you goes out to our close friends and family for their support, equipment and positivity. We are eternally grateful and will do our best to make them proud, as we provide our services to the people in Cornwall and SD&G,” said Jessica.
