In spring of 2017, the Cornwall Business Enterprise Centre (CBEC) in partnership with the Government of Ontario launched the Starter Company PLUS Program. The program has seen many success stories and hopes to see more in the near future. Over the 9 months since the inception of the Starter PLUS Program, 11 businesses have received funding which means that $55,000 has been invested in the local economy.
The program offers eligible participants the necessary training and mentorship in order to run their small business. This involves assistance in creating a business plan, offering seminars on the most pressing small business related topics and hands on time with industry professionals to assist with your problem areas. The program has allowed the centre to host or partner for 31 training based events since April of 2017.
Starting a business can be overwhelming and the first steps are often unclear. Reaching out to the CBEC is a great first step for those who seek to start a new business, CBEC staff will provide an initial assessment to ease any issues you need addressed. Cornwall, Stormont, Dundas, Glengarry and Akwesasne entrepreneurs have done just that this year, since April of 2017 the CBEC has offered 351 consultations to both new and existing businesses. If you are looking for assistance with your small business you can call our centre for a free consultation at 613-930-2787 x2276 or email Josh O’Reilly at email@example.com.
