Help Navigating the Legal World

Legal services are not usually an everyday requirement for most.  However, there are times when we do need legal assistance.  Having someone working on your behalf can be the lifeline that gets us through a difficult situation, or may simply make a legal transaction much less stressful.

Linda Fragnito, owner of LMF Paralegal is licensed as a paralegal and is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada in the Province of Ontario.

“I am very excited to have now opened my business,” said Ms. Fragnito.  “I am very much looking forward to assisting people in navigating some of the legal necessities of life and business. As a paralegal, our responsibility is to offer affordable, high-quality legal services in the most resourceful way feasible, saving our clients time, money and worry.”

LMF Paralegal offers services in the Eastern Ontario region and provides a variety of flexible office hours and convenient meeting locations to meet the needs of clientele.

Ontario paralegals are licensed and regulated by the Law Society of Upper Canada (LSUC) to provide a limited range of legal services. You will find paralegals working in courthouses and courtrooms, at government offices, in lawyers’ offices, in legal clinics – and independently representing clients in court and at hundreds of tribunals in Ontario.

Paralegals are advocates. They represent clients who need help with legal issues and offer advice on dealing with legal matters that are within the “paralegal scope of practice.” Paralegal fees are generally below those of lawyers who practise law in these same areas.

Paralegals represent clients in four main areas:

  • Provincial Offences-related tickets
  • Small Claims Court (for civil suits of less than $25,000 per claim)
  • Summary conviction-prosecuted offences in criminal courts
  • Administrative tribunals – such as Ontario Human Rights Tribunal; Landlord and Tenant Board;        Social Benefits Tribunal; municipal licensing tribunals and committees; housing and education        committees

“We are pleased to congratulate Ms. Fragnito on her new business venture,” said Candy Pollard of the Cornwall Business Enterprise Centre.  “We are certainly happy to see individuals opening businesses based on their education, expertise and passion.  We wish her much success!”
