New Class IV Laser Therapy provides state of the art treatment
Laser therapy has become extremely popular in recent years, particularly in the treatment of injuries and in pain management. Dr. Kylie Draper and Dr. Joel Leger, owners of Cornwall Spine Care Plus+ have recently added a Class IV Laser to their arsenal of tools.
“The Class IV Laser is relatively new to the Cornwall market and it is the most powerful therapeutic laser regulated by Health Canada,” said Dr. Leger. “It is a wonderful tool that is extremely effective in reducing inflammation in tissue, decreasing pain and speeding up the healing process.”
The Class IV Laser is typically used in the treatment of various sports injuries; wound healing; arthritic pain (osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis); lower back, neck and shoulder pain; repetitive stress injuries; Carpal Tunnel Syndrome; sprains and strains; post-operative care; knee, foot and ankle pain; tennis elbow; golfer’s elbow; and soft tissue injuries.
While other lasers (Class II and III) have similar effects, they are not as powerful as the Class IV. Cornwall Spine Care Plus+ is proud to be one of the only therapy clinics in Cornwall to offer the best therapeutic laser available on the market today.
“We are very excited to have acquired the Class IV Laser,” said Dr. Kylie Draper. “The treatment itself is quick and easy with no pain and virtually no side effects. As always, we do assess each patient and recommend the treatment that best fits their condition, which often does include Laser Therapy or a combination of Laser Therapy with chiropractic adjustments, active release therapy, or acupuncture among other effective conservative therapies”.
Laser therapy helps to speed up soft tissue injuries and joint healing, relieves pain through endorphin release, relaxes muscle tension, stimulates and regenerates nerves, softens and reduces scar tissue, improves circulation and can decrease acute and chronic inflammation. Clinical research has shown that in 9 out of 10 patients, laser therapy accelerated the healing process of sports injuries involving trauma to soft tissue, tendons and ligaments from 35% to 50% faster.
Cornwall Spine Care Plus+ is involved with the community completing Concussion Assessments for local sports teams and working as medical staff and team chiropractor for the Cornwall Wildcats Football team and with the Akwesasne Wolves Hockey team
“I am very pleased to see Dr. Draper and Dr. Leger expanding their services once again,” said Candy Pollard of the Business Enterprise Centre. “They have recently celebrated their one year anniversary and in that year have added massage therapy and now the Class IV Laser to their treatment options. We certainly wish them continued success!”
