Cornwall Spine Care Plus Expands Again

Dr. Kylie Draper and Dr. Joel Leger are celebrating the second anniversary of their business by expanding once more.

Last fall, the owners of Cornwall Spine Care Plus+ celebrated their first year in business by adding a “Class IV Laser” to their treatment options.  This year, they are expanding into the area of spinal decompression therapy with another piece of state of the art technology, a new state-of-the-art decompression table.

“Spinal decompression therapy provides us with yet another option when treating our patients with disc bulges, disc herniations, spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease and other compressive spinal conditions,” said Dr. Leger.  “As always, we do assess each patient and recommend the treatment that best fits their condition, which may include a combination of decompression therapy, laser therapy, chiropractic adjustments, active release therapy, soft tissue therapy, medical acupuncture, registered massage therapy, and even kinesiology and rehab.”

Both Dr. Leger and Dr. Draper have now completed several months of training in Spinal Decompression Therapy and have now been certified as Decompression Chiropractors.

“The technology utilizes a state of the art decompression table to intermittently distract specific spinal vertebra with the goal of decreasing the pressure within the discs and joints of that region,” explained Dr. Draper.   “As the vertebra are gently pulled apart, pressure is reduced within the disc until a vacuum (negative pressure) is formed.  This vacuum will not only encourage the movement of a herniated or bulged disc back inward but will also pull much-needed oxygen, nutrients and fluid into injured and degenerated discs allowing the healing process to begin.”

Both Drs. Draper and Leger are also passionate about contributing to their community.  They are involved with concussion screening/management for several minor hockey teams, and are once again running their “One Warm Coat” initiative.  Each year they collect used and new winter coats donating them to families in need. Last year over 50 coats were donated to the Salvation Army for this purpose. To celebrate the second anniversary of the clinic, they hosted a charity golf tournament and BBQ donating just over $800 to the Children’s Aid Society of SD&G.  Cornwall Spine Care Plus+ is also proud  to sponsor local hockey and the CAS Send a Kid to Camp Charity Golf Tournament.

“I am very pleased to see Dr. Draper and Dr. Leger expanding their services once again,” said Candy Pollard of the Business Enterprise Centre.  “I suffered a back injury myself a few years ago and travelled to Ottawa for recommended decompression therapy which, coupled with other therapy was extremely successful. Their commitment to providing the most up-to-date treatment for their patients is very positive for our community, as is their volunteer activities and sponsorships – I thank them for their dedication, and look forward to celebrating many more anniversaries with them!”
